SXTBU is actively advancing application research and has accomplished fundamental progress in its scientific research. It set up 6 research centers such as Institute of Higher Education, Institute of Generalist Education, and Research Center for Business Administration and New Jin Merchants Research Center. Besides, it undertook 1 national research project, published 20 monographs (including teaching materials), carried out 262 scientific research projects of numerous types at all levels, published 1,065 academic articles and won 111 awards. For instance, the textbook of University Students’ Career Planning and Employment Guidance was recognized for a gold prize for scientific research of the Management Branch of China Education Academy, and Management Foundation was awarded the 9th Excellent Achievement Award of Social Sciences in Shanxi Province.
The school integrates innovative entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent training, and strengthens the guidance and service in student employment and entrepreneurship. It invested 1 million yuan to establish a venture fund, set up the first university student innovation park in Shanxi Province, and its pioneering park was defined by Shanxi Science and Technology Department as a province-level public creation program. 3 gold awards, 11 silver prizes and 5 bronze awards were brought home by SXTBU participants in Shanxi Province Challenge Cup Youth Entrepreneurship Contest while the school itself won the outstanding Organization Award; 2 bronze awards brought home in Shanxi Province "CCB Cup" internet + Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition. The accomplishments from attending 15 scientific and technological innovation contests in 2017 can be detailed as: 7 gold awards, 13 silver awards, 4 bronze ones at national level, 5 gold awards, 6 silver awards and 6 bronze ones at province level. The number of our contestants who have reaped awards reaches as high as 852.
The college is one of the first members of “Innovative Education Alliance of Chinese Universities”, and the “Demonstration Center in Deepening Innovative Education Reform” of Shanxi Province. It was rated as “2015 Remarkable Entrepreneurship Training Partner” in the annual evaluation of Shanxi Human Resource and Social Insurance Bureau. 5 mentors were selected into the ten thousand outstanding entrepreneurship mentor tank of China. Since its upgrade to offer bachelor degree programs, students have totally garnered 1071 bronze or above awards from various contests, among which 112 were procured at national level. The average employment rate of SXTBU graduates has been kept over 90% in recent years, and it has been named “the Pioneering Organization in Graduates’ Employment Works” for two consecutive years. It’s also entitled with the honor of “Leading Private College” of China, “Advanced Private College” and “Outstanding Performer in Graduates’ Employment”, etc.
Following the principle of open and collaborative education, SXTBU has developed friendship with more than 20 universities from America, Britain, Canada, Japan and Thailand as well as Taiwan, China to carry out communication and cooperation in such areas as teacher and students exchange and course development. In 2017, we founded Humber English Language Center in our college jointly with Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. Besides, College-enterprise collaboration has been vigorously conducted by us to help our students well fit in the local social and economic development course. The projects we have launched include school-business program plant, collaborative innovation center for tourism and acting business in Shanxi Province and mass entrepreneurship and innovation center, etc.
The college has been widely acknowledged by its contributions to the society and higher education, and has won great praise as well as many awards presented by MOE and provincial government, such as Advanced Private College for Higher Education, National May First Labor Medal, Advanced Private Non-Enterprise Organization of Shanxi Province, Excellent Private College of Shanxi Province, Advanced Organization for Graduate Employment, Leading Organization for Safe Campus in Shanxi Province, Advanced Social Supporter for Education in Shanxi, Innovative Award of Campus Culture Building.
